About NEJ Running Club
Formed in 1987, NEJ are a well established running club, well equipped to cater for runners and joggers of all abilities. In addition to our running, we have a comprehensive programme of social activities throughout the year.
Our home is The Pavilion Sports and Leisure Club, 135 Footscray Road, Eltham SE9 where we meet up every Wednesday and Friday evening for a prompt 7pm start, where we like to mix our running schedules with regular fitness evenings with our qualified coach.
On top of this, if you like to take in the Kent country side, then why not join us for a nice social Sunday morning run at Honeydale Farm, Ruxley.

A massive congratulations to all of you who took part in last Sunday’s EP5 run. It was an extremely hot day, which made an already tough run even more difficult to cope with. We are pleased to say that ALL 250 competitors finished the course, which is a great achievement.
It was a fantastic turn out too which made for a very successful day for NEJ
Thank you, especially to Adrian Bennett for your brilliant organising of the event, Pete Cane, Angie, the committee who put lots of hours in to make it a great run and of course to the girls in the registration room along the marshalls who helped the day run smoothly.

Mob match with Plumstead Runners
Wednesday 21st June
We’ve been invited to take part in a mob match by our friendly neighbours Plumstead Runners at Oxleas Woods on the evening of Wednesday 21st June 2017 starting at 18.30 sharp.
It will be a 10k race pretty much over the Cross Country course with a bit added in somewhere along the way! After the race, we’re invited back to their clubhouse for a shower and a drink; for those who don’t know, their club is based next door to Welling FC in Park View Road, Welling.
This will be the first time we have had such a run – previously they’ve been with Orpingtonand/or Petts Wood – so it would be great if we get a good turnout for what we hope will be the first of a regular series of runs / events with Plumstead and other local clubs.
You will be receiving an email from Adrian Bennett shortly. Please ensure that you reply to it as soon as you can with your 10k time in order so that they can allocate a suitable handicap. If you haven’t run a 10kin the last couple of years, then your best guess will do.
A fantastic milestone
A special congratulatory mention goes out to Frank Lee, who recently ran his 200th park run. A wonderful achievement. There were a number of NEJ runners there to support Frank, who was so grateful, that he wrote a letter of thanks to our chairman Sean with the following words of gratitude to NEJ:
It was great to have so many people from the running club turn out to support me on the milestone of 200 park runs, all done at Avery Hill Park.
That has been typical of the kind of support NEJ members have given one another over the 25 years that I have been in the club, and it has been a privilage to have enjoyed the company of so many people over those years.
As my running career is nearing its end, I will take this opportunity of wishing the cluband members every success in the future.
Well done Frank. Here’s to the next hundred!!!
Dates for the diaries…
Isle of Wight | Sunday 4th June | Half marathon
The New Forest | Sunday 9th July | 10 mile run
Details of each weekend to follow very soon
Not just a walk in the park!
Why not join…
Steve Freeman, who has kindly agreed to start a new walking group on Wednesday club nights from The Pavilion.
These walks will be ‘brisk’ and varied and are intended to suit those of us recovering from injury, not up to running or just fancy a walk to work up a thirst before retiring to the bar!
(And of course there’s the added appeal of Steve’s full repertoire of pathetic jokes).
If you’d like to join in please find Steve on a Wednesday night and give it a go.
Registering for upcoming events
Please note that if you want to enter any of the races stated in the events calendar, please ensure that you do so as early as you can, particularly the Grand Prix events to avoid disappointment, as many are filled very quickly.
